How It Works: Your Journey in Energy
Whether you're exploring a career in energy for the first time or looking to grow into a senior role, we'll match you with someone who can speak directly to your journey.
Step 1: Sign Up & Complete Your Profile
Create your profile and select the areas you'd like support in through mentorship, and/or the areas you can offer support in as a mentor. It takes 5-15 minutes to complete.
Step 2: Get Matched
We'll propose a suitable match based on your experience, goals, and industry focus. Once you accept, you'll be introduced to your mentor or mentee to begin your three-month relationship.
Step 3: Extend or Be Rematched
Once your three months are up, you'll have the option to extend your current match or be rematched with a new mentor or mentee, building a trusted circle over time.

About the Programme
Women in Energy Aotearoa New Zealand is a mentorship programme that brings more women into the energy sector and supports those already in it to thrive and step into leadership. Through carefully matched mentor-mentee relationships, the programme develops career-specific skills and empowers women to build confidence, communicate effectively, and pursue opportunities.
Mentor-mentee matching takes into consideration your personal and professional experience, development goals, and areas of expertise—proposing a relevant match between women who have signed up as mentors, mentees, or both.
Matches are made on the basis of near-peer mentorship, meaning mentors are one or two career stages ahead of their mentees. This approach results in highly relevant advice and a natural ability to relate, because your mentor has been where you are, not so long ago.
What to Expect
Each match lasts three months from the date of your introduction. During this time, you are expected to:
- Complete your profile fully before matching begins
- Review and accept your proposed match
- Commit to the full three-month relationship
- Meet with your mentor or mentee a minimum of four times
- At the end, choose to extend your match or be rematched
Programme Launch
The Women in Energy Aotearoa New Zealand Mentorship Programme will launch on 22 May 2026. Each match will run for three months from the date of the first introduction.
